Lots and Lots of New

This post is going to be rather long because just like the weather outside, when it rains, it pours. We have received several new releases you are going to love.

First, from Taylored Expressions we have two new sample cards with all the stamps and dies to recreate them:

Next, My Favorite Things had a huge release of new products.  Jennifer McGuire had a video introduction to the new release.  The video is nice because she gives you lots of ideas of what you can do with the various items.  We have all the stamps and dies that she features in the video:

You can view the video directly on YouTube here- https://youtu.be/rRFAyLRCWzE

The MFT design team also made gorgeous samples of the new release:

Pandas!

Who says penguins are just for winter cards?
Butterflies are so practical for every occasion and this fragment background is just stunning

New children stamps to create sweet cards:

Stars make great inspirational cards and are great to have on hand for the 4th of July
Build a flower sets are practical and can make shading your images a snap
Tired yet? How about some WPlus9?

I have a couple more videos to share, but I am afraid to add any more to this post!

Words front and center

We just received a huge shipment of Verses Rubber Stamps.  We love their sentiments, but also the beautiful way the words are presented - in layout and font.  You can make quick cards that look elegant and lovely!

This is Thursday's FREE make-and-take card.  I love how Marilynn used the Dreamweaver fern die in an unusual color as more of a corner ornament instead of a traditional leafy way.  Versatility is awesome!

Stop in Thursday between 10 - 8 to make one for yourself!

Depth with "Glass"

This card looks almost 3-D and like "stain glass" at the same time!  Join Angela Tuesday between 12 & 2 to find out about the latest product offering from Tsukineko - Staz On Studio Glaze.  This translucent gel is interesting in that it dries on all non-porous (as well as porous) surfaces, but it's water-based.  Win-win!  The 3-D effect is created by stamping on Vertigo film.  And, we're using one of the newest stamps by Memory Box - awesome!  Don't miss it!

Even More From Ranger

Yep.  It's here!  The new mini Distress Ink kit is here.  It has the four colors of the month released so far this year....  Cracked Pistachio, Abandoned Coral, Mermaid Lagoon, and Fossilized Amber.  The colors make me so happy.

The new Distress Spritzer is also back in stock.  Tim's video explaining the uniqueness of his spritzer made me buy one.  I especially like that it has a lock so that it doesn't leak.

Hero Arts Ombré Pads and More with Ranger

Yesterday I mentioned in my post that ombré pads are really trendy right now.  Our latest shipment of Hero Arts Ombré Pads just arrive, so be sure to give them a look.

Want to see Lisa Spangler from Hero Arts tell you about them?  Here is an interview from CHA:

And now more from Ranger.  Another of the accessories we have at the store is the Distress Ink Refresher.  In this video, Tim explains what an Ink Refresher is, and how to apply it to pads and markers.  He also explains how to use it in conjunction with his paint daubers to keep them working properly.

Ranger Accessories

Hi everyone!  If you came to the blog looking for the Make and Take sample for Thursday, scroll down to see the fun card we will be making.  It is an excellent chance to learn about Gelatos!

I don't know if you realize it or not, but Tim Holtz added four new accessories to his Distress line that you are going to love.  We have them at the store and wanted to show you how to use them.

First, there is the blank Distress Pad.  In this video, Tim shows you the pad, teaches you how to ink the pad, shows you how to customize the label, and even gives you ideas for using the pads.  Ombre pads are so trendy right now, and now you can make your own ombre Distress pads!

You can also view the video directly here- https://youtu.be/w-C3J5OisSA

Second, how about the new Distress Glaze?  Micro Glaze has been around a long time, but people don't seem to understand what it is or how to use it.  In this video, Tim provides information on the glaze, how much to use, and how to apply the medium.  Distress Glaze protects your Distress products as well as other water-based mediums so that you can add extra layers on top without disturbing what is underneath.  It is a must-have product for all you mixed media artists!

If you are stopping by the store on Thursday for the free make and take, be sure to check out these cool products from Ranger as well as the class samples we put up featuring guest artist Sandy Allnock.

Sweet! Gelatos!!!

Stop in this Thursday any time between 10 - 8 to create this stunning birthday card.  We'll be playing with Gelatos both to color the image and to create a soft background wash.  Colored pencils accent the image.  This card makes a great card (obviously), but could also be framed as "the gift".

Love from the Community!

Many of you have "shared the wealth" over the years by donating your craft supplies (through us) to the Herndon Senior Center.  They have enjoyed countless art classes and opportunities to make cards for the troops (among other fabulous projects) solely through donations of all of us.

Last week, The Fairfax County Department of Neighborhood & Community Services recognized these contributions by awarding us all the Distinguished Partner award.  It recognizes those who put the "quality" in Fairfax County's quality of life.  We are grateful for your help in those efforts and look forward to sharing the award with you next time you're in the shop!
