Winter in August?

We received an ENORMOUS shipment of brand new stencils - and poor Marilynn has been trying to find a place to display them all.  This has created lots of problems for her as she's operating on the "one for display, one for her shopping basket" method of display making.  Who can deny that she is the stencil queen????  Thursday's make-and-take features one of the stencils by Crafter's Workshop.  Marilynn used Brilliance Moonlight White ink to create a snowy background - it covers dark colored cardstock very well.  She is exploring non-traditional holiday colors by using a lavendar card rather than blue.  I LOVE it!  Stop in Thursday between 10 - 8 to make one for yourself.  As always, it's free and no registration is required!

Product Preview #2

What?!  Tim Holtz has new products?  Woohoo!  At summer CHA, Tim revealed his new line of Distress Glitters.  Don't let the name fool you.  Although they fall under the name of "Distress," they are bright and bold colors that replicate the look of vintage mica.  The 24 colors of glitter also coordinate with the rest of the Distress line, so you can now match your sparkle with other Distress products such as their inks, paints, stains, or markers.

Here is a video of Tim introducing his new line of glitter.  He shows you how you can add ink on top of the glitter as well as how to adhere the glitter for maximum sparkle effect:

If you would like to see the video directly on YouTube, you can see it here.

We ordered all of the new glitter colors, so there will be plenty of options to add sparkle to upcoming holiday cards.  Jennifer McGuire Tweeted that her favorite of the new colors are Peacock Feathers, Pumice Stone, and Antique Linen.  Personally, I can't wait to see what she does with them!

Want to see pictures of all the new colors and read more about them?  You can find all of that information here.

New!

So excited about the new holiday cards special edition from Paper Crafts Magazine. It is loaded with card and gift ideas to get you started for the holidays.

Are you a fan of the Wink of Stella glitter brush pens? We are! Laura especially can't seem to stop adding to her collection. We now carry their 3-pack sets with themes such as "Landscape," "Christmas," and "Pretty Garden." Some of the other sets are on backorder, but we expect them soon. Not only do the packs have great color combinations, but they will save you 50 cents per pen.

We have new bakers' twine as well. Not only do we carry solid colors, but we also have sparkle/metallic twines. Can you see the sparkle in the picture? They are perfect for holiday cards or gift wrapping, and like our other twines, they are only 20 cents/yard.

Finally, are you a stencil person? We restocked our selection of Crafters Workshop stencils, including many designs that are new to the store. Come in and have a look!

Products on the Horizon

CHA just ended, and so of course, we are expecting new product at the store.  Some of products that have us the most excited are by Ranger, so we thought we would give you a heads up of what will be arriving at the store.

The product we are highlighting today is by Dyan Reaveley.  Her Dylusion Sprays have been such a hit, and she now has an inkpad that works with the sprays.  The best part?  You can spray color onto the pad, use the color to stamp, then rinse off the pad to use with different colors of sprays!  Here is an intro to the product from Dyan herself:

If you want to see the video directly on YouTube, you can see it here.

If you would like us to hold a pad for you, just let us know!

No worries!

Isn't this card adorable????  I can't actually remember when I looked forward to the summer heat, but this little girl looks perfectly cool :-)

Join us this Thursday between 10 - 8 for this FREE make-and-take card.  It features a stair-step card from Paper Cut and stamps by Impression Obsession.  I LOVE the dots cover-a-card stamp on the yellow.  Doesn't that look exactly like water drops?  So clever and picks up the dot motif in the inner tube!

I also love the sentiment - who couldn't use a little encouragement - in such a cute package!  Drop by and make one for someone special!

Perfect Ruler

We are carrying a new product at the store that we think you are going to love.  It is called the Perfect Ruler, and it really is a nifty little tool to have. The Perfect Ruler has a clear side so that you can see where you are marking your projects as well as a metal side for easy cutting.  It also has a gripper bar in the center so you can keep your fingers out of the way while cutting and where you can press down so that your paper won't slip as you are cutting.  Here is a video from the company so that you can see what it looks like:

If you want to see a bigger version of the video, you can see it directly on Youtube here.

Closed for 4th of July!

Because we will be CLOSED on Thursday, July 4, we will not be having our usual FREE make-and-take project this week!  We hope you'll join us next week for an adorable card featuring lots of dies!  What a great way to make use of scrap paper and have a quick, cute card too!  Meanwhile, we are taking this opportunity to look back at some of the fun we had at our first annual Unconventional Convention.  That's right - I'm calling it first annual, because it was so much fun, we plan to do it again!  Pictured above are the incredible artists (and me - I'm a wannabe) from Sweet n Sassy.  Wow - they really transformed our classroom into an incredible show floor!  And Kathy's demo of transferring an image to create a lake reflection was spectacular!

Then, Darsie Bruno (designer from Just Rite stamps and Spellbinders) joined us for some amazing demos on Saturday.  She was on a mission to share her knowledge, so I just had to photo bomb her :-)  She created stunning backgrounds with the large Just Rite stamps and Gelatos.  Very cool!

Rounding out the event was a visit and book signing with Mollie Cox Bryan.  The level of talent and artistry in the room was inspiring, and we look forward to having all the ladies back soon for classes and demos and another signing when Mollie's new book comes out in the winter!
