No tricks! Only this treat!!!

Join us this Thursday, Halloween, for some candy (of course) and a FREE make-and-take project featuring new images from Impression Obsession.  I love the elegant, monochromatic look of this card!  If you haven't started thinking about your Christmas cards yet, let me offer two thoughts:  1) if you stop by and do the make-and-take, you'll have ONE done and 2) if you need to make a bunch of them, this is a good one - it's beautiful without a lot of layers or steps.  Something to keep in mind as you're planning your card design.  Also, the snowflakes can be used at more than just the holidays.  Wahoo!

Super-sized Demo week!

If you've spent any time around me at all, you know I can get distracted by shiny things!  So, this Tuesday's FREE Learn at Lunch demo is T-R-O-U-B-L-E, because it's nothing but shimmer and shine :-)  Join me tomorrow between 12 & 2 for a look at the Snow Writer and Glistening Snow Writer and the fabulous Wink of Stella Glitter Pens.  We'll make a tag that looks virtually enameled, and super shiny at the same time.  Sooo much fun!

If you aren't able to join me for my weekly Learn at Lunch demos, you can still keep up with what we're doing.  There is a demo binder behind the register with instructions and samples so that you can share the knowledge.  Simply ask to take a look next time you're in!

Also, I will occasionally hold ENCORE Saturday demos (when the classroom is free and I'm in town).  This Saturday, November 2 is the first one!  Stop in between 10 - 12 and learn about the Memento Luxe inkpads.  You will be amazed at what you can do with these inkpads!  Like all of our demos, no registration is required.  Hope to see you there!

New Magazine

Paper Crafts magazine occasionally comes out with special editions that are loaded with ideas on a particular topic. The "Stamp It" issue just arrived, and it has tons of samples with stampers in mind. There are 66 stamping challenges in the publication such as "stamp on glitter" or "make a one layer card" followed by multiple samples of each technique. You are guaranteed to be inspired! Also, for those of you who have enjoyed our shipments of WPlus9 stamps, there are many card samples in the magazine highlighting that company in particular.

How Sweet!

Sometimes folks are intimidated by the detail in these stamps and wonder how to color them.  While colored pencils are the illustrator's favorite method, there are other (faster) methods that are equally effective.  This Thursday's make-and-take features a watercolor technique that makes use of dye reinkers.  Fun - and practical - to use something you already have.  One of the things I love about this technique is the amount of control you have.  By using lots of water, you can create a very subtle wash.  But you can also create a very vibrant visual, just by reducing the amount of water you use!  Stop in Thursday between 10 - 8 and make this sweet little card for yourself!

Add Sparkle with Shimmer Spritz

One of the things I love about the Shimmer Spritz is that it is translucent!  So you don't lose the coloring job you did (or the intricacy of the stamped image) but you get lots of shimmer and shine!  And, it dries on virtually any surface.  I've sprayed it on velvet, fabric, ribbon and more!  Plus, because it is wet, it really blends any Distress products - I have samples of Distress stains and Inks to show you.  Stop in Tuesday between 12 - 2 and give it a "spritz".  I guarantee it will add some "pizazz" to your day!

Trick or Treat

This Thursday's FREE make-and-take card is adorable, but it's also full of techniques you can use on your other card projects.  In this card, you'll work with the very opaque Prismacolor Pencils, which makes coloring the candy corn so simple!  You'll also play with webbed ribbon and Frantage Black glitter for additional texture.  There's nothing spooky about it!!!  In fact, it's quite sweet :-)  Stop in and make one for yourself anytime Thursday between 10 - 8.

White House 2013 Ornament

Need to get a Christmas gift while you're in getting your Christmas card supplies?  Why not snag a 2013 White House ornament?  We are selling them on behalf of the South Lakes High School band, and this year's ornament is spectacular.  I'm partial to the Peace Doves, but I also love how 3-dimensional they are.  Stop in and take a look.

Stunning Gold Leaf

Stop in Tuesday between 12 & 2 for a new look at Gold Leaf!  You'll love the elegant look you can achieve - with very little effort!  Angela will give you lots of tips and show you tons of samples.  And you'll play with the Poppystamps overlapping Fremont Tree dies and a fabulous tape from Stampendous that makes the entire process a breeze!!!!!  Remember, the Tuesday Learn at Lunch sessions are completely free and you don't need a reservation.  So what are you waiting for???

Marion Smith Designs

Our October Paper of the Month has arrived and I’m so excited to tell you about it!  This month we’re featuring a brand new paper company, Marion Smith Designs, and their two launch collections, “Nirvana” and “Mad Tea Party.”  Marion has been a popular designer and instructor for Prima, 7 Gypsies, and others and has now launched her own paper collections.  And...wow!  Both collections are beautifully designed, so richly colored, printed on heavyweight cardstock.  There are 8 double sided papers per collection, along with two sets of cling stamps for each.

Nirvana is pure vintage pretty, featuring old fashioned cameras, hot air balloons, and more.  Would work great with your Steampunk project!

Mad Tea Party is themed around Alice in Wonderland, so whimsical and fun. If you’d like to include the Wonderland characters in your project, check out our other new stamp company, Deep Red, which carries all of them!  So come check out the pretty before it’s all gone.

Add a little WOW!

Did you miss our Open House?  Or do you need a refresher?  Join us Thursday anytime between 10 - 8 and play with the Wow Pearl Embossing Powder.  This powder looks clear to the naked eye, but when used on dark card stock (in this case, black) the interference particles create a stunning metallic color!  We used the swirl background from one of the new stamp companies we featured at the Open House (Deep Red Rubber) as well as coordinating metallic paper to make an all-occasion card that shimmers and shines.  Come make one for yourself - FREE!

What's New?

The new release from Poppystamps is here, and we have a ton of new dies:

For those of you who weren't at the Open House, you may not know that one of the new companies we carry is WPlus9. You will be blown away by their samples. We restocked the stamps and dies from the very popular Dockside collection:

Also, we have stamps that are new to the store such as the sweets collection and the paisley set:

The nicest thing about the paisley set? It has complete paisley stamps as well as stamps that can be pieced together to make a paisley design. The individual pieces make it so easy to create a paisley using a bunch of different colors. Yeah!

Introducing Memento Luxe!

Wow!  Aren't these colors vibrant????  Join me (Angela) tomorrow and get colorful!  We're playing with the new Memento Luxe inkpads from Tsukineko.  These are pigment pads - with lots of coverage and opacity, so they are great on dark colors!  They are permanent on fabric and so much more!  I could go on and on and on about how much I love these inkpads, so stop in Tuesday between 12 and 2 and let me tell you all about them :-)

Hello Pumpkin!

Tomorrow's FREE make-and-take features an adorable image from Darcie's.  This stamp comes from a clear set that can also be used with the Tin Pin embellishments - but it certainly doesn't have to be - as this stinkin' cute card proves!  Feel free to use this sentiment - or take the card home and make it a Halloween or even Thanksgiving card.  This image lends itself to all kinds of occasions!

If you want to find out more about the Tin Pins, join Paula for her next class on Sunday, October 13!  Meanwhile, join us for Free Card Thursday - anytime between 10 - 8.  See you then!
