The Gold Standard

I'm always looking for Christmas card ideas that can be mass-produced.  This elegant design is exactly what I'm looking for!  I love the detail of the stamp, but to sit and color it - shading - wow!  Instead, we simply stamped it with the Delicata Gold Ink Pad.  This inkpad is unique, in that it is extremely lustrous, and dries with a raised finish - giving the appearance of an embossed image without adding that extra step!  Plus, we used a sponge and applied color from the inkpad to the center of the flower to spotlight a little color.  Super quick and easy, but very elegant.  Stop in Thursday anytime between 10 & 8 and make one for yourself.

New Darcie's Board

Aaaaarrrrrr me mateys. The new Darcie's board is here, and it is all about pirates! I know Happy Stamper Marilynn is beside herself with joy. Don't be afraid if you stop by the store and see her dressed as a pirate. It has been known to happen.

To go with the stamps, we also have the glossy polka dot and skull and crossbone paper they used in the samples:

The stamps and paper are perfect for Halloween, or of course, talk like a pirate day on September 19. Everyone does celebrate that holiday, right?

Stardust Gelly Pens

With the introduction of Wink of Stella glitter pens, the Stardust Gelly Pens have been somewhat forgotten.  But they definitely have their unique, wonderful, glittery uses :-)

Join Angela Tuesday between 12 & 2 and see just how lusciously shimmery these pens are - and how easy they are to use.  With their hard nib, you can get into tiny, detailed spaces (the Wink of Stella's can't do that).  They dry quickly on vellum, and you can even watercolor with them (you know how I love my versatile products!!!)  Stop in Tuesday and find out more - I'll be waiting!

Stencil Girl Stencils

In our continuing love affair with stencils, we have found a wonderful company that we are introducing into the store for the first time.  Stencil Girl!  We have a whole rack of these stencils by the front door in the new section.  Love them!

Slider Magic!

The fun continues with The Paper Cut's slider cards! These cards fold completely flat, but when you pull the ribbon, it reveals the sentiment underneath. And, it basically creates its own easel, so it's fun for your friends to display! Stop in Thursday between 10am- 8pm and create one of these cute, all-occasion cards to share with a friend. You won't believe how easy it is!

Lots of New Shipments

Tim, Tim, Tim, what are you doing to us?  Tim Holtz came out with brand new stamps and stencils for Halloween and Christmas.  Here is a video where Tim introduces us to the new line of products and shows lots of finished samples to inspire you:  https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5yxRIpHcCFU

Of course, we have the new stamps and stencils.

Did you miss the mini Distress Ink tins the first time they came in to the store?  We restocked!

Are you a fan of Penny Black?  We have brand NEW clear sets!  (sorry for the horrible picture)

And....new Penny Black dies

Finally, Deb ordered several colors of scalloped overlay cards from the Paper Cut for her holiday class.  The notecards make elegant stamping so, so easy.  If you don't see a color combination you like, check out the Paper Cut catalog the next time you are at the store.  Each style of overlay has a really nice variety of color options to choose from.  Aaaah, the possibilities!

Velvety Goodness!

Have you ever had trouble adhering really intricate dies?  Or, have you ever wanted a touch of elegant texture but you just weren't sure what to use?  If you fall into either of those categories (and who doesn't?), then this is the demo for you!  This Tuesday between 12 & 2, join Angela and play with Velvet Sticker Paper!  This self-adhesive velvet paper comes in a variety of colors, and cuts like butter :-)  The backing removes easily and the paper sticks to virtually any surface.  Plus, you can stamp on it, spritz on it, paint over it - the possibilities are endless!  And, it feels amazing - literally!  See you Tuesday!

More from Ranger

Recently we showed you a video of the new Tim Holtz mini Distress Ink storage tins.  Besides the new tins, we also received the new Ranger Texture Paste.  How do you use it and how does it differ from the other embossing pastes out on the market you ask?  Well, Tim Holtz is more than happy to answer those questions...

You can also view the video here- https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1C8e-d_TT38&list=UUQ3f82p5yb6MiA9O1LZbmEA We do also carry the Dina Wakley palette knives, Distress Stains, Distress Reinkers, Archival Inks, Dina Wakley paints, and Dylusion Sprays shown in the video.

Upcoming Classes

Summer often seems like a time that focuses on kids and all the fun activities/camps they get to do.  Why not make time as an adult and schedule yourself some playtime?  We have a couple upcoming classes we think you might like.

First, I am teaching the Intro to Peerless Watercolor class for the first time tomorrow night from 6:30-8:30pm.  Although I didn't list it on the sign, I just scheduled an encore class for Saturday, August 9th from 10:30am-12:30pm.  Here is the class description:

Peerless Watercolors are vibrant paints that are easily blended and are all the rage right now. Join Laura as she teaches you about the unique qualities of these watercolor paints and what differentiates them from other mediums. Students will make four cards and learn how to create washes, layer colors and learn how to turn the watercolors into metallic paints. Students should bring: waterbrush, double sided adhesive.

I forgot to mention it in the items to bring, but if you have the flat, broad nib waterbrush by Ranger (Tim Holtz), bring that as well.

Next, have you started to think about your holiday cards yet?  I know I am always the happiest when I am not working on them during the holiday season.  Deb always has great ideas and will definitely inspire you.  Here is more information about her class:

So, why not get started on your Christmas cards?! Deb has put together a collection of cards that can be mass produced ... you decide the level of effort you want to put into the cards. Come join Deb to make 5 cards incorporating stamping, die cutting, embossing, non-traditional color palettes and, of course, a little bling! Students should bring: your basic kit, various sizes and thicknesses of pop-dots and the Perfect Layers Ruler, if you have one.

Finally, are technique classes your favorite?  You will learn a lot in Gayle's Gelato Watercolor class.  Here is that class information:

Awaken your latent watercolorist with Gelatos by Faber Castell. These creamy sticks of water-soluble pigment encased in a plastic tube make it irresistible and easy. Just activate the pigment with water. Let me say that again. Just activate the pigment with water - and you're in business! Watercolor artist Doug Mays says, "Where oils lumber...watercolours prance." Even for budding artists, Gelatos make it possible to achieve that easy, breezy (prancing?) look that we associate with watercolors.

In class, you will use Gelatos to (1) make a marbleized background, (2) color an embossing folder, (3) watercolor a stamped image, and (4) apply color to a rubber stamp. How versatile is that?!

Students should bring: Your basic kit, your largest acrylic block, a water mister, a small cup, small watercolor brushes (if you have them), and dimensional adhesive. Also, if you own any Gelatos, bring your favorite colors for your marbleized background.

No Need to "Chalk it Up"

I love the look of "chalkboard" cards.  We received an inspiration board with lots of "Chalkboard" card samples and all the stamps to recreate them.  However, there are times when you want a different look, and these stamps are very versatile - you just might not consider it when you see the board.  Join us this Thursday between 10 am- 8pm and make this happy, summery card to send to a friend.  We've left school and the chalkboard behind and are in "dreamsicle" mode :-) This card features sparkly embossing powder from the new collection of colors from Wow!  The card is FREE, and you don't need to pre-register.  See you soon!

New Ink Pad!

We have heard so much about this wonderful, versatile ink pad that we had to get it!  The My Favorite Things Hybrid Ink is a mix of a dye-based and a pigment-based ink pad.  You get a nice crisp dark line, and you can use it with your Copic markers AND watercolor! Want to see a review of them?  Check out this video:

If you want to see it directly on YouTube, you can see it here- https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=62ZveNz-rHo

We just ordered the black pad and the reinker, since people seem to buy that color the most. However, we can get all 12 colors in the line. Just let us know if you need other colors!

Fun with Embossing Folders!

Embossing folders are a wonderful way to add texture to your projects!  But you can do so much more!  You can create stunning backgrounds, you can add interest to just a portion of the card, you can add ink over the raised surface to add "pop" and you can emboss a die cut to add texture.  Plus, you can create smooth frames within your embossed sheet to leave a space for a sentiment.  This is a wonderful way to "mass produce" cards without lots of layers!

Join Angela between 12 & 2 on Tuesday and get a chance to play with embossing folders.  You'll be amazed at all the flexibility they offer!

Gelli Plates and Memory Box

What's that you say?  The new 3" x 5" size of Gelli Plates are here?  Woohoo!  What makes these plates so great?  The small size fits perfectly on a card AND you can STAMP with them.  The possibilities are endless.  If you are unfamiliar with Gelli Plates, you will want to see this video using the new size:

You can also see the video directly on YouTube here-  https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zpyI7nD50ms

In the video, they use a cd case and an acryic frame as a base, but I think they are a bit flimsy.  Give me a good old acrylic block any day.

We worked really hard to get all the new Memory Box up today.  The new Poppystamps release arrived today, so it was added to the wall as well.  I tried to take a good picture of everything we have, and I even had to step outside the door to get all the new product in the frame.  Let's just say there is a lot of new stuff!

Don't forget that we are having a Memory Box celebration at the store.  If you buy any Memory Box, you get a raffle ticket to win the amazing basket pictured below on the left.  For every $20 you spend on product at the store (it doesn't have to be Memory Box), you get to pick a freebie out of our Memory Box basket (while supplies last).

Don't forget to follow us on Pinterest.  We are adding samples and ideas of how to use all of the new goodies.

Everything we post on our Pinterest page is available at the store at the time of posting. So, if you see something you like, give us a call, and we will be happy to hold it for you. If we run out of something, we will be happy to order it for you.
Definitely be sure to check out our Memory Box board on Pinterest. It has samples and ideas for the brand new release that arrived at the store TODAY!

Some of the items are brand new, and some were used in classes. We'll replenish the goodie basket regularly, so stop by often! This is a great time to complete your Memory Box collection - if you don't have these items, there is no other way to get them. Once they're gone, they're gone!

As an added bonus, if you buy anything in the store by Memory Box, you will receive a raffle ticket for a special Memory Box prize that includes dies, notecards, and a special limited edition stamp and die set that we weren't even able to buy at the store! (One ticket per visit). The drawing will be Saturday, July 19 at 4 PM, and you don't have to be present to win.

Restock:

Now, for a store product update... The Peerless Watercolors are back in stock. Woohoo! We have the intro pack as well as the large bonus packs. Want to learn more about Peerless and have a chance to play with them? Laura will be teaching an Intro to Peerless class on Friday, July 18th.

Coming Soon:
Did you know Tim Holtz has new products?  We ordered them all and want to start by showing you one of them.

First, the case for his Mini Distress Ink pads.  I am so glad I watched this video because I learned how easy it is to store my mini round sponges as well:

You can also watch the video directly here (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OVG6X7-tiSQ)

We have the tins on order, so let us know if you want us to hold you one...or two...or three  :)

No Glitter About It!

Elizabeth Crafts is known for their incredible, super-fine glitter.  We love it because it's shiny and easy to "contain"!

But did you know Elizabeth Crafts makes a lot of other fabulous products as well?  They have branched out into dies and embossing folders - and we love the elegance of them all!

This Thursday's FREE make-and-take project features a word die, a multi-layer ladybug die, and this sophisticated embossing folder.  After embossing the black card stock, we gently added color to the raised surface with Brilliance Moonlight White ink to make the pattern really pop!

Stop in between 10 & 8 on Thursday and see how much fun these products are.  The project is FREE and there's no need to pre-register.

Catch a Wave!

What a great use of zig-zag paper!  When paired with this stamp and sentiment, it totally captures the feel of "waves".  And I love the color scheme!  It doesn't have to be blue!

This makes a great summertime card, but I think it could also be used for any "life changing" event as well - a move to a new home, a job change, a retirement, a graduation.

Stop in Thursday between 10 & 8 and create one for yourself!  Remember, we will be closed on Friday, July 4, but will reopen Saturday at 10 and resume normal business hours the remainder of the weekend.

New Paper from Webster's Pages

Everyone seems to have their favorite paper company.  I have to admit that I have a special fondness for Webster's Pages.  Their papers are double-sided and absolutely stunning.  We received 2 new collections of papers at the store, and the staff is currently drooling over them.

The first new collection is Strawberry Fields.  The pictures show the front and back of each sheet of paper:

Next, how about a little ocean-themed paper?  Here is the Ocean Melody collection:

Fun, fun, fun!  If you have a little extra crafting time this weekend because of the holiday, you might want to think about having some new paper.....

As a reminder, we are closed on the 4th for the holiday, but we will be open again on the 5th.
