Free Make and Take this Weekend!

Happy Labor Day weekend everyone! I don't know if you are going out of town, but if you are around this weekend, you might want to stop by the store Saturday (between 10-5) or Sunday (between 12-5) to make this FREE card. It uses a stamp and dies from Memory Box and is a nice and bright way to celebrate the end of summer.

Also, we didn't schedule any classes this weekend because of the holiday. If you want to come to the store and work on a project in our classroom, you are more than welcome.

Have a fantastic holiday weekend!

Message in a bottle

Or a vase.  Let's not be nit-picky :-)

This week's FREE make-and-take card features die sets from two different companies.  First, the focal images are from an amazing set (that's right - you get all of those vases in one package) from Impression Obsession.  What a wonderful way to use up your scrap paper!  Add depth to the images by shading around the edges and popping the center vase.  I was also thinking these dies would be a perfect way to salvage background stamps that weren't completely inked or stamped "perfectly".  Just cut out the good parts, and you're good to go!

The other die set is the ovals from My Favorite Things.  One of the things we love about their nested shapes is the little pierced detailing around the edges.  Doesn't that finish off the card beautifully?

Stop in Thursday and make one for yourself, any time between 10 & 8.  And then write your own "message in a bottle".

New Lawn Fawn!

We are so very excited that we have the brand new fall and winter release of products from Lawn Fawn!  Lawn Fawn made some fantastic videos of the new line to introduce you to their stamps and dies, so we thought we would share them with you.

First, how about the new fall "sweater weather" images:

You can also view the video directly on YouTube here.

Next, how about images and dies for Halloween?  The "Monster Mash" set is so much fun.  Even if you don't stamp Halloween cards, they have lots of information about Copic coloring, assembling cards and matching their stamps with the coordinating dies.

You can also view the video directly on YouTube here.

If you want ideas for Halloween treat bags, Lawn Fawn sent us a super-cute sample that we have at the store.  It uses the new "Spooktacular" stamps and dies.  They also have a video to show you how to make the bags, which could be made for just about any occasion.

You can also view the video directly on YouTube here.

If you want to see more awesome samples with their new dies, we pinned 13 new ideas on our Lawn Fawn Pinterest page.  Here are links to a couple of those samples:

Whew!  I know that was a lot, but we really love their products and couldn't stop sharing!

Oooh...one last thing.  Don't forget that Wednesday, Aug 27 is theme night at the store.  The theme this month is "Christmas," and it is a great way to hang out with people and get some cards done.  You can read more about this class on our webpage class section.

Good enough to Eat!

This cute stamp is actually multi-purpose.  You can use it with a sentiment about having a "sweet holiday", but you can also make all-occasion, birthday or thank you cards with it.

I've spiced up this card by adding dimension with a Twinchie, and also embossing with SCENTED embossing powder!  That's right - this card is practically a scratch 'n sniff - with no scratching required :-)  The embossing powder is peppermint scented, to add an extra element of fun for the person receiving it.

Join me Tuesday between 12 & 2 and give it a try.  I'm pretty sure you'll love it!

Ranger, Ranger, Ranger!

Wow. We have a lot of new product from Ranger to show you. First, we have the final three packs of mini Distress Ink pads.

Not only do we have the new colors, but we also have all of the other 9 color packs in stock (in case you are missing any). The Mini Distress inks, foam blender tools, and mini Distress Ink cases are on a new display by the window:

Ever want to make your own "perfect" inkpads? Here is what Ranger says about the blank pads:

"A makeover and new name does a blank stamp pad good! Move over Big & Dry Jumbo Felt pad and say "hello" to the Make Your Own Stamp Pad. The oversize, blank felt pad is the perfect surface to make your own custom ink pad. Apply a custom palette of colors using any dye ink re-inkers. The raised surface makes application of stamps or tools easy."

Hint...we have a lot of the Archival Ink reinkers in yummy colors that would make fantastic pads!

Are you a Dyan Reaveley fan? How about a wall of brand new stencils and stamps?

Finally, I want to show you something from my "must have" list. Paintbrushes are so important for cardmakers. Buy too cheap of a brush, and you will have bristles falling out of your brush. High-end brushes will give you sticker shock. This pack of brushes is fantastic because you get great quality for a very affordable price.

Ranger in the Roost

Hare and Deb were up to their elbows with brand new Ranger products when I stopped by yesterday.  Took a quick picture of just some of the stencils that were on the counter.  But wait, there's more!  Also saw new stamps by Dina and Dyane!  Come on in this weekend and see else they unpacked.

Now it's official

To all who would have said I was "certifiable"-now it's official! (Better clarify that it's Marilynn here that's posting)  I got the call from the owner of Dreamweaver stencils letting me know I had become officially certified.  If you go to my blog (stampingmuses.blogspot.com) you will see this impressive image.  There is one class in September all about pastes already posted, and I'm planning another class for October. We have lots of other great classes coming up including two guest artists coming in October-look for more information on that soon!

India Ink and Markers

We love the Big Brush Markers from Faber-Castell.  They are filled with vibrant India Ink and are wonderfully easy to work with.  For this week's Free make-and-take card, we stamped our sentiment with black India Ink.  It's a nice, crisp, deep black that doesn't smear when you color over the top of it with more India Ink.  That's right - the Big Brush Markers contain fade-resistant india ink pigment inside.  We then created interest on the card by embossing a piece of red and placing it on top of a red card base (tone-on-tone doesn't distract from the sentiment, and you can really see the embossed panel because we popped it!)  Stop by Thursday between 10 & 8 to make one of these for yourself.  While you're here, check out the other Verses sentiments as well as HILARIOUS stamps from Riley & Co.  We guarantee you will laugh.  Seriously!

So much new!

We have several large orders out with companies such as Impression Obsession and Art Impressions, but while you are waiting for those, check out what has arrived.

First, we have a brand NEW company to the store called Creative Vision. We have images for Fall as well some really humorous sayings. The news has been such a downer lately that we could all probably use a good laugh (or know someone who needs one).

Speaking of funny, do you remember Riley and Company (lots of moose stamps)? Well. They too have a ton of amusing sayings, and we have a whole bunch of them:

We have also been really pleased with the new releases from Prickly Pear. The have gorgeous Fall and wWinter clear stamps with coordinating dies. Sorry the picture is so horrible!

Finally, the Peerless watercolor paints are back in stock. Woohoo!

A Little Snow - Too Soon???

To be honest, I'm not entirely sure I'm over the snow-pocalypse that was last winter - but I'm forging ahead anyway :-)

For my weekly Learn at Lunch demos, I've been focusing on new products and techniques, while also trying to come up with cards that can be mass produced for Christmas.

This Tuesday, from 12 - 2, I'm focusing on creating an elegant snowstorm (that requires no shoveling).  We'll play with texture brushes, paint chips and acrylic paint.  Plan to join me!  The demos are FREE, and no registration is required.  Plus, I miss you :-)

Elizabeth Crafts

How adorable are these little guys?  What you may not notice as well in this picture, is that they were die cut on our velvet paper!  Talk about cute factor to the extreme.  Our own Deb also has a sample of the owl on a card she made out by the dies in the new section.  Our rep made these and showed them to us when she was in last week.  Spent the whole morning with Hare and me going over lots of new items.  We put in so many orders we kept her over into the afternoon.  We'll be posting some of our new goodies as they come in.  But be sure to come over and see what we have.  The early birds get the best pickn's!

New Magazines

There are several new magazines in the store.  This one had several good articles I was interested in reading.  One of the comments in the front section under letters was by folks who are having a hard time finding their favorite stamp magazines.  Well, look no further!  But  come in soon, they are going fast.

Thursday Make and Take

We have a huge selection of the new Impression Obsession holiday release at the store, and this week's free make and take card uses one of the new holiday silhouette images as well as red mirror paper from the Paper Cut. Add a few rhinestones, and you have a stunning card that would be easy to mass-produce for the holidays. Stop in anytime Thursday, August 14 between 10:00 am and 8:30pm to make this free card.

New House Mouse

So, just how cute are these new cards? We received a brand new holiday sample board featuring sweet little animals.

I like this sample because it reminds me how great it is when you take the time to decorate an envelope. We also happen to have the Christmas light ribbon/garland used at the top of the card.

Bunnies decorating the Christmas tree.

A little extra glitter sparkle for the angels.

The gingerbread house looks so yummy.

Love the off-center layout of this card.

Stampendous sent us info sheets on how to make the cards, so be sure to ask to see them the next time you are at the store.
