Wax On, Wax Off

Tuesday's Learn at Lunch FREE demo features a brand new product - Faber Castell's Paper Crafting Crayons.  These fabulous wax crayons come in "twist-up" packaging, so they are wonderfully convenient to use and can even be sharpened for detail work.  You can create resists with them, fabulous backgrounds and even melt them for a cool, wax texture for your mixed media projects.

10th Anniversary Open House

A little fall grunge!

The grunge look is very popular right now - it's a new take on collage that really appeals to me.  Stop in for Thursday's FREE make-and-take and get your grunge on!  This all-occasion card really celebrates the colors of the season and features the new Memento Luxe pigment ink pads (that dry to a yummy matte finish).  I also love the use of spotlighting to highlight the word "fall" in this word collage.  So much to love - join us!!!!

Shimmer Sheets transfer!

There are so many things you can do with Shimmer Sheets!  They are weather-proof mylar, so you can even create decorations for outside!  But we are going to try to focus (which is not easy for someone easily distracted by shiny things....) and concentrate on just a few techniques for this Tuesday's Learn at Lunch (tomorrow between 12-2).  You can emboss them, die cut them, transfer them, scruff them, and so much more!!!!  Join Angela for a great time playing with lots of fun techniques!

This Thursday's FREE make-and-take card is just TOOOOOO sweet!!!!  Featuring a stamp by Pink Ink (formerly Lockhart stamps), this card makes a cute Christmas card (colored like a peppermint stick) or a wonderful all-occasion card (colored in any other color!!!!)

Masks - not just for Halloween :-)

Join us this Tuesday any time between 12-2 for a demo featuring masking and reverse masking!  Angela will show you how to mask to create all kinds of creative layers on your cards.  Plus, we'll be playing with Viva Decor's Paper Soft to create stunning background shapes - all with masks!  Demos are FREE, and you don't need to pre-register.  Hope to see you there!

Graphic 45 week continues!

Join us for Thursday's FREE make-and-take project featuring Graphic 45 papers and Halloween stamps.  One of our favorite things about this company is their consistency!  Every paper collection is a delight and seems to work effortlessly with previous collections.  You can save scraps and odds 'n ends and layer them up together with stunning results!  Join us this Thursday between 10-8 and play with their fabulous paper!  Don't forget to join the Sketch contest (sketch samples are in the post below) for a chance to win a $45 gift certificate to the shop.  We'll select the winner this Saturday!

Graphic 45 week!

Kick off Graphic 45 week on Friday, September 6 by stopping in to wish Angela a Happy 45th Birthday!!!!  In her honor (or at least, that's what she's believing :-).....) Graphic 45 has released 3 new paper collections and we have them all!  Stop in Friday and snag a cupcake and also some fabulous paper! 

Then, put your creativity to work.  Use one of the above "sketches" or patterns to create a card featuring Graphic 45 paper (any collection - even older ones - is fine).  Drop it off any time between Sept. 6 - 14 and we'll display it in the shop.  We will choose 1 card randomly, and the winner will receive a $45.00 gift card to your favorite LSS!!!!!!

Autumn Blessings

Fall is my favorite time of year!  I love the rich colors and the little bit of chill in the air at night!  Launch into fall with this Thursday's FREE make-and-take card.  We are using a stamp from the new Inky Antics board. We will be adding color by layering Prismacolor Pencils. We will also be using some gold Perfect Pearls to enhance the image. I love how it picks up the sheen of the metallic gold paper we will also be using on the card. We have an abundant supply of many wonderful colors of metallic papers so come see how easy it is to incorporate it into your projects.  The FREE make-and-take is available from 10-8, and you don't need to make a reservation!

 

Learn at Lunch returns!

We will be CLOSED on Monday, September 2 in observance of Labor Day! 

On Tuesday, September 3, Fairfax County kids go back to school, and so do we :-)  That Tuesday marks the return of our WEEKLY FREE Learn at Lunch series.  Join Angela every Tuesday any time between 12-2 and learn something new.  On September 3, Angela will be sharing tips and techniques for working with 3-D Stamping Paint from Viva Decor.  This highly metallic paint dries on virtually any surface and is very versatile.  Stop in and see all the different things you can do with it!  We hope you'll make this a weekly stop!
