We Will Be Open Tomorrow!

Yeah! We couldn't be more pleased that the new store will be open for regular business hours starting tomorrow (Saturday, November 1). It seems fitting that we will start the new month in the new location. We haven't unpacked everything quite yet, but as you can see from the pictures, we have gotten a lot done:

We would love it if you decided to stop by this weekend to see the new place and to say "hi."

New Address:

208 Elden St

Suite 203

Herndon, VA 20170

(703)657-2952

When you get here, you will enter the front of the building under the large "208." On the left, you will stairs, and on the right, there is an elevator. Go up to the second floor, and we are at the end of the hall at the back of the building.

The new store

We are a work in progress!  Things are going up as fast as we can unpack.  Here are a few pictures of what's happening.  We are really liking the extra space and the extra lighting.  Things are much easier to see and appreciate.  Hare has the register up and running so we are planning on being open tomorrow- just be patient with us.  Not every thing will be unpacked and we are still learning the register.  But come enjoy what's been done.  That part is really awesome!

A Big Thank You

I just wanted to write a quick thank you note for everyone who came out for my fundraiser.  I really appreciated all the support for the new store.  The new store will not be open on Friday as we hoped.  We are still dealing with register issues and need to have those sorted out before we reopen.  I will definitely keep you updated on the process.  I have a few of the $25 stamp containers left.  If you are interested in buying one to support the build-out, email me (Laura) at stampjournal@gmail.com and I will put one aside for you.  I will be taking them to the new store when it opens for those of you who would like to see them in person.

You guys rock!

They are going to be $4 each or 6 sets for $20. 100% of the proceeds will go to the cost of the new store build out.

Also for sale - pasta machine for polymer clay projects and a toaster oven for shrink plastic items.

It will be our last event at the "old" store.

Fundraiser Thursday

Well, the move from the old store to the new store is really getting close. This is what the old store looked like Tuesday night at closing. Shocking, isn't it? I must admit that as excited as I am about the new space, I am really sad about leaving the old one. I have so many happy memories attached to this space.

The big fixtures moved Tuesday, and the inventory will be moved Wednesday. If you would like to help with the move, you are welcome to stop by the old space to help finish packing.  The register will still be hooked up Wednesday, so if you would like to pick up your items on hold, you will still be able to do that.

On Thursday, there will be no Make and Take. Both stores will be closed on Thursday, but I (Laura) will be hosting a Happy Stamper fundraiser at the old space on Thursday, October 30th from 5-9pm. This is what I wrote in the latest newsletter about the fundraiser:

Hi everyone. Laura here. I wanted to write a short message to let you know about a fundraiser I am holding at the (old) Angela's Happy Stamper store this Thursday, October 30th from 5pm- 9pm. I have been so blessed to be a part of the Happy Stamper community for over eleven years and have gained so many friends as well as an extended family.

I know that when Angela started the store, she really only planned to build one store from the foundation up. Now that she has decided to continue the store in a new location and must build a whole new store, I wanted to do my part to help. I have gathered tons of crafting supplies that I have collected since the mid 90's and am donating them for a good cause. I have brand new items, gently used items, and discontinued products aren't available anymore. There are also items from design teams on which I have served. There will be items from Hero Arts, Stampers Anonymous, B Line Designs, A Muse, Stamping Bella, Rubbrmoon, Stacy Stamps, Claudia Rose, Impression Obsession, Memory Box, Art Impressions, Stampendous, and many more companies on sale. I have also put together large Stuftainers filled with tons of stamps that will be sold for $25 each (Stuftainer included). 100% of the proceeds from the fundraiser will go towards the build-out of the new store. You will be getting a deal and supporting a good cause at the same time. Cash or check only please. I hope you can make it!

Here is what some of the Stuftainers with goodies look like:

So, feel free to stop by the store to check out the fundraiser or just to hang out with friends and to say goodbye to the old space before it is gone.

No Learn at Lunch Demo Oct. 28

Sorry all!  I wanted to show you the amazing new Texture Paste from Ranger (with the fabulous Texture Tools), but really wanted to have a bunch of samples to share as well, and there just hasn't been time to make them with all the work going on at the new place.

I will be leading the Guided Meditation Tuesday, October 28 from 9-10, so feel free to drop in and start your day with some breathing and relaxation (which always gets me energized for the day).

The movers are coming at 2 PM on Tuesday to move the heavy furniture - however, all our merchandise is still on the walls, etc, and available for purchase for your crafting emergencies :-)

Stay tuned for more info, and stop in one more time at the old place to say goodbye - it's weird that at some point in the very near future, this building won't even be here to "drive by".

One Crazy Weekend

We had one busy weekend working on the new store. We can't thank our volunteer helpers enough for their help over the last few days. You guys went above and beyond, and we are truly grateful. Here are some updated pictures:

Doesn't the wood slat board look great? If you have always wanted some for your craft room walls, we have extra we are selling:

Small pieces are $2 each

Medium pieces are $4 each

We have one huge piece that is $10. You can also cut it down into smaller pieces.

Moving Updates, Storage for Sale, and More

Hi everyone! We are getting really excited about our move to Herndon and wanted to share some of the process with you. We are also looking for help this Saturday, and we have an awesome storage cabinet for sale.

NEW LOCATION:

Here are some pictures of our new space that we have been remodeling.

View as you walk in the door. The slat board is getting ready to go on the walls.

You can also see the classroom from the front door. Notice the classroom has its own door as well as lots of windows.

Our current register space is falling apart, so we decided to get a new one. Angela is already working hard.

View from the other end of the store. The classroom is back behind Angela and the register.

View from behind the register. The open door on the left hand side is where you enter the store.

There will also be an entire room dedicated to paper and ribbon. I didn't realize it at the time, but I took the worst picture of that room.

STORAGE FOR SALE:

The move has caused us to make changes in our current fixtures. We are having to downsize some fixtures and upsize others. One of our storage units that won't make the move is a large 10-drawer filing cabinet that is subdivided into smaller sections. Here are some pictures:

Trust me. It holds a lot of stuff. We were thinking $40 OBO. You will also have to move the cabinet from the store. Give us a call if you are interested. Proceeds will go towards the Happy Stamper rebuild fund.

HELP THIS SATURDAY

We are looking for volunteers this Saturday, Oct 25 to help us with the build-out at the new store. In particular, we need people to hold slat board on the wall and people who are handy with a drill. We are also looking for people who have a level tool they can bring. If you can participate, please call the store and let us know what time between 9:30am-4pm you can come so that we can coordinate everyone.

Look for more updates soon!

Working with Framed Images

Rubber Moon makes a series of images that are "framed and shadowed".  The index on the front shows everything in black and makes it sometimes hard to visualize the finished product.  But I love these images because so much of the work is done for you.  You can simply color the focal image, and the "grounding" of the remainder of the image is done.  This makes for quick, one-layered cards that are still interesting!  In one sample, I paper pieced the image with decorative paper.  In another, I used watercolor paper to create an enameled look.  The possibilities are virtually limitless!  Stop in Tuesday between 12 & 2 and give it a try for yourself.  Plus, check out all the other options in framed images that are available!

We Are Moving!

Many of you have been asking about our plans now that our building is going to be torn down. After 11 years in our Reston location, we decided to move to a new location 2.6 miles down the road (I checked) in Herndon. We will be moving from an industrial park to an office park. The best part of the new location? Lots and lots of windows.....even in the classroom!

Our new address will be:

208 Elden St

Suite 203

Herndon, VA

20170

We will be located on the second floor, but don't worry. There is an elevator as well as stairs. The Comfort Inn is right next door for those of you coming in from out of town, and you can easily walk to places for food and drink.

Our nearest large intersection is Elden Street and Fairfax County Parkway:

Here is a closer look at the location:

The easiest landmark to see in the building is Carpool. To get to our store, you will go through the front door under the 208

We don't have an exact move in date yet, but we will continue to keep you updated.

If you want to read more about the move and information if you want to help, you can read it all in the latest store newsletter:

http://myemail.constantcontact.com/Exciting-News-.html?soid=1103707940788&aid=QOeaXlUL0vk

I hope you will continue to be part of our stamping family in the new location!

Eeek! Scary!

Isn't this card great?!?!  Even if you're terrified of actual spiders, this card is appealing :-)  Featuring all stamps and dies from Impression Obsession, I love the gossamer look of the web, which we created by die-cutting vellum!

Stop in Thursday any time between 10 - 8 and make one for yourself.  It's so cute, you could even frame it and use it as a decoration!

A busy week

c

Wow. It sure has been a week to remember!  First, Els was here with one or our favorite reps, Donna, to share all the latest and greatest with Elizabeth  Crafts.  One of which was the new embossing folders which you can use with the shimmer sheets like you see in this picture.  Then Dyan Reaverly flew in and finished out the week with two days of her wild and wonderful ways with her line of products from Ranger.  And we were the first to see her new stamp sets just made available today!  She made a sample for us with one of the sets shown here.  Just in time for Christmas.  If you weren't able to join us at these great events-good news!  There is still some products left and we can take orders if it's not there.  Come see what we've been doing.  It's been a very inspirational week.

Distress Spray Stains

If you know me, you know I'm not typically enamored with anything "messy".  I'm not proud of my fussiness, I'm just being honest :-)  So, I wasn't sure how I would feel about the new Distress Spray Stains.  But I have to say, I'm kind of hooked.  They allow me to feel creative, like a mad-scientist, but the clean up is oh so easy!  Controlled chaos - my kind of crafting!!!!

Join me tomorrow between 12 & 2, and explore your "messy" side.  We'll be playing with both the translucent stains and the pigment metallic sprays.  We'll use a couple of different stencils to add layers and dimensions, and toss in some vellum for texture/contrast.  And, believe it or not, with all that's going on in this card, it's quick and easy to mass produce.  See you Tuesday!
