Vegetables and Jelly???

 Thursday's FREE make-and-take card features the May paper of the Month from Jillibean Soup!  We're using a fabulous new die set from My Favorite Things to create the scalloped background, button and strip of ribbon (made out of paper but cut and embossed with one pass through the die cut machine - easy peasy)!!!  Such a quick and easy card that can be used for all occasions - yay!

In other awesome news, the Gelli plate have arrived.  Marilynn will be leading a FREE demo on all the incredible ways to use them on Saturday, June 29 from 10:30 - 12:30.  DO NOT MISS THIS - seriously :-)

The Happy Stamper is very excited to announce that we ordered Gelli Plates for the store. Gelli Plates are a hot product right now and allow you to combine stamps, stencils, textures, or found objects to create unique backgrounds for cards, scrapbooks, or art journals. If you aren't familiar with the product, you can see an introductory video by Gelli Arts:

For those of you who are fans of Marilynn's demos, don't worry, she has one in the works for Gelli Plates! I know she is thrilled with the effects you can get with them, and no one knows how to fill your head with tips, techniques, and ideas quite like Marilynn. We will make an announcement when the plates arrive at the store and will be sure to let you know when Marilynn schedules her Saturday demo.

On an unrelated note, the Saturday classes with Guest Artist Heather Telford are now full. The Sunday, June 16th class is the only one with space left.

Born to be Wild

This Thursday's FREE make-and-take card features an image from Art Impressions.  It's hard to choose my favorite thing about this image - but I think it might be the expression on the cat's face.  Hahahahahahaha!  I love how Marilynn extended the circle motif into the background by using one of the new stencils from The Crafter's Workshop.  She simply sponged dye ink over the stencil and created a perfect background!  Stop in this Thursday between 10 - 8 and make one for yourself.  It's sure to bring a smile to your face and to the face of whomever you share the card with as well!  Oh, and even a scooter could make it into the shop now - we have a left-turn signal AND a paved road!  Wahoo!!!!!

Announcements

Hello friends,

 

First and foremost, we would like to announce that they finally PAVED the road by the store.  YEAH!  So now we have a new turn lane (with a turn signal) as well a smooth ride to the store.  We couldn't be happier.

Our plan was to end the Penny Black sale yesterday, but we decided to extend it through today (Saturday, May 18) to accommodate those of you who can only come to the store on weekends.  So, if you want to receive 10% off Penny Black products in the store or in the catalog, today is your last chance!

Speaking of Penny Black, Heather Telford, Penny Black designer extraordinaire, has agreed to add a few spaces to her Saturday classes.  There are now three spaces available in each class.  Grab them quick, because her classes sold out fast the first time!

Finally, many of you like to know when new Hero Arts arrives at the store.  Paula and I are busily putting out stamps and ink pads as we speak.  Come in to get the first look!

We have really enjoyed this week celebrating Penny Black.  A new shipment of Penny Black arrived today, and we received many items that we have never had at the store before.  If you were planning on taking advantage of the special Penny Black 10% off pricing, remember that you only have until we close at 6pm tomorrow, May 17th.  The 10% applies to any Penny Black we have in stock as well as anything you order from the Penny Black catalogs.

Schedule of Events:

May Flowers

I have to say - I want the weather to stay just like this!  I heard that as long as the ground temperature stays below 64 degrees, the cicadas won't emerge.  Is it me, or is that something worth hoping for????

Tomorrow's FREE make-and-take card features fun with vellum!!!  I love how soft stamped images look when stamped on vellum and colored from behind.  Doesn't it look like you spent hours watercoloring?  And, the washi tape accent at the top finishes the card beautifully!  We hope you'll stop by between 10 - 8 Thursday and make one for yourself.  Coloring is so relaxing, so stop in and take a little mini vacation :-)

Have you ever wondered what the difference was between the Adirondack Lights, Brights and Earth Tones was and how these pads worked together?  Well, wonder no more!  Dee has done the research and created an incredible hand-out to share with you during her FREE Demos with Dee - Tuesday, May 7 from 12-2.  This is another not-to-be-missed event, so we'll see you there!

More New Stuff

We are really loving the entire line of Distress products. Angela and Marilynn restocked our supplies of Distress pads, Distress Stains, and Distress Paints while they were at a trade show.

We organized the sprays at the store so that it is easier to find just the right color of Dylusion, Firework, Glimmer Mist, Chalkboard, Plain Jane or Colorwash Sprays

We also have some fun new products from My Favorite Things and The Cat's Pajamas. There are stamps, dies, and stamps that coordinate with dies!

Dyan Reaveley and Dylusions

There are so many new things at the store that I am having trouble figuring out which one to share first. I thought I would start with Dyan Reaveley because her Dylusion Sprays have been so popular, and we have had so many requests to start carrying her stamps. I am really happy to tell you we just received a huge selection of her products from Ranger. I apologize in advance for the poor quality of my pictures.

We restocked all of her sprays. They are some of the richest, most vibrant sprays I have ever seen. Like Tim Holtz's Distress line, they are reactive with water, allowing you to get all kinds of cool effects.

We also now have a large selection of her cling rubber stamps. Dyan designs her images so that you can mix and match everything. Heads in one set fit on bodies in another set.

We also received her Journaling Block which can be used as an acrylic block for larger stamps, or you can use the wavy side to help with your art journaling:

Spotlight on Northwoods

 Some people are intimidated by the incredible sample boards that Northwoods sends.  It's true that they do an amazing job coloring their detailed images!  (And if you haven't seen them, bring your camera and come on in!!!)

But, you can also use these detailed images to make quick cards that are equally stunning!  Marilynn created a lovely monochromatic card with a spotlight on just one of the butterflies!  To make the image really pop (well - in addition to popping up the wings), she added some accents with the Signo White Pen - isn't it fantastic how well it colors on dark card stock?

Stop in Thursday between 10 - 8 and make one for yourself!  (And bring your camera to capture more inspiration using Northwoods images)!
