Embossing Made Easy!

Do you love the look you can achieve with brass stencils, but often don't have the time for embossing by hand? If so, then you're in luck! Join Jenn this Tuesday between 12 & 2 to learn fantastic tricks and tips for using your brass stencils with your Cuttlebug (or other die-cutting machine). In this example, Jenn actually used the "debossed" side to achieve depth, then added Pebbles Chalks to create the appearance of mist and Stickles for stars. Fast and fabulous!

Take a Mini Vacation

One of my favorite things about working with Stampscapes stamps is the feeling the images evoke. Can't you smell the pines and hear the water??? Some people find these stamps intimidating, but they are surprisingly easy to work with. The hard work was done originally by the artist. The rest is simply organizing and coloring! Stop in Thursday to create this ATC (Artist Trading Card). You'll see just how satisfying working with Stampscapes can be. And, these make excellent cards for men!

A Day at the Bleach!

This Technique Tag Tuesday features the fun of working with bleach! You can stamp with it or color with it to completely change the appearance of your projects! Stop by between 12 and 2 to learn all kinds of tips for working with bleach - from removing color to going back in and shading or adding color (Jenn calls it anti-shading - so come see what that's all about).
One of my favorite things about working with bleach is that when I've finished with my project, I dump my bleach in the tub and run some water. The tub looks nice and I feel like I accomplished something!

Spring is coming!

And I, for one, can't wait! I love the sound of the song birds, the smell of flowers in bloom....all the simple things. Speaking of simple things, I love this card. It evokes a watercolor feel without the water or the work! The pressed flower sets from Hero Arts are perfect for this technique with chalk. Stop in Thursday to make one for yourself. Then, enjoy the weather on Friday. It's supposed to feel very spring-like!

Pretty Paper Piecing

Are you a person who saves every little scrap of paper in hopes that it might be useful someday? If so, then you will love Paper Piecing! To achieve this adorable look, simply stamp your "open" image (one that would be good for coloring) on several different pieces of coordinating decorative paper, cut them out and layer. This is an especially effective way to achieve a fabric look on furniture or clothing. Stop in Tuesday between 12 & 2 and let Jenn show you some fun tips & tricks. You'll never look at your scraps in the same way again!

Versatile Valentine!

This elegant collage card features a stamp set from American Crafts. I love how Marilynn incorporated all of the elements, but I think it would be fun to use them individually as well. Use the key for "key to my heart", and the bee for "bee mine" and the rose for "roses are red". A pretty card, a versatile set - what could be better - peanut butter and chocolate, perhaps??? Join us Thursday, and make this card for someone special!

Coloring Techniques you didn't learn in Kindergarten

While I'm a big fan of the saying, "Everything I needed to know, I learned in kindergarten", there are a few things I've learned since then. One of the things I've learned is how to use a computer so that I can post these photos and fabulous musings for you all :-) But I've also greatly improved in my coloring techniques! Colored pencils are one of the most versatile coloring tools around. You can greatly change their appearance depending on how much pressure you apply and how you blend them. Join Jenn this Tuesday between 12 - 2 for a tutorial on blending with Gamsol. You can achieve such a soft, almost watercolor, effect with just a little bit of effort. Come find out how!
